Are we still under the Old Testament Law?

Christian Freedom is the realization of God’s grace! It is knowing that all the penalties and demands of the Law were nailed to the Cross. It is knowing that we are saved not by our own obedience to works of the Law, but by the blood of Jesus Christ! Christian Freedom is knowing that God cleanses your heart in Faith, through the Holy Spirit and not by ritual animal sacrifice, ritual purification and other works of the law!

The Initial Evidence of The Spirit

I recently heard a man teaching at a Seminary say, “Do you want to know what the meaning of Scripture is? Scripture is the meaning of Scripture.” In other words, there isn’t a magical incantation, translation method or pixie dust you can sprinkle on the pages to have what it […]

Loving People, Loving God

This is so important, that Jesus declared in Matthew 22, that ALL of the Law and the Prophets depend literally on this concept, and that the greatest Commandment of all, is to Love God, and to Love God is to Love your Neighbor;

Is Malachi 3 after the New Testament Church? Are we misusing it?

To me, it has become abundantly clear, that the use of Malachi 3 to teach and propel a message of Tithing into the New Testament church is a misappropriation of Scripture. While Paul taught clearly in II Corinthians 9:6-7 that God loves a cheerful giver, and that our reaping will be commensurate with our sowing, he equally taught that our giving was no longer obligatory (tax, tithe) and that we were to give as we felt led to in our heart.

Church Standards vs. Law – Are they really the same thing?

If you church teaches dress and behavior standards that you must abide by in your own personal life, while not at church, they have made new Laws of salvation. This is legalism at its purest and darkest form.

Tithing vs. Giving – Is there a difference or is it just semantics?

Some say tithing, some say giving. For churches that teach Tithing as a Biblical mandate, do they really mean the Spirit of Giving, or are they teaching the Old Testament taxation called Tithing?

Are you taught to keep the Law of Moses?

I have been absent for some time in my writing trying to sort out the real motivations and purposes behind this blog. There is an internal conversation that asks, should I continue focusing on legalism, cult-style control within religious organizations? Or should I turn the focus towards grace, and love, […]

Out of Context: I Corinthians 11:14 Women can’t cut their hair?

In our series of Out of Context topics, we will talk about the misappropriation of Scriptures used to either garner control or gain material wealth from congregations. Scripture teaches clearly that the Word was not to be used in this fashion, and yet with humanity involved, it seems almost inevitable, […]

Biblical Headship – Who’s in Control?

There is a lot of debate, and concern when it comes to biblical authority, headship, and leadership. The three terms are of course not synonymous, but coming from a very legalistic background like I am, these terms were morphed into one synonym; Pastor. Modern Christianity that bends towards authoritarian leadership […]

Are we cherry picking the Scripture?

Are we [Christians] guilty of Cherry Picking Scripture? I think it’s probably true for all of us, each denomination, category or flavor. We know who we are, what line or verse resonates with our ideas, so we sort of…make it…Our Scripture! I even wonder sometimes if we know we are […]
