Neither do I Condemn You

One of my favorite moments of Scripture is arguably one of those that is in question whether or not it is in the original manuscripts. Regardless of its historical veracity, it’s principle is without a doubt indicative of the nature of Christ (and the nature I want to mimic) and […]

What’s so amazing about Grace?

This morning included a weekly three-hour drive through a beautiful Oregon mountain pass and into God’s country – Central Oregon. As the driver (and alone) I don’t get to take in too much of the scenery – I have to drive safely after all. I do, however, get a lot […]

Acts 19: Have you received the Holy Ghost since you Believed?

It has been an amazing journey learning the Scriptures and the people they were written for, by and because of. The history of the people and the times in which our books of the Bible were written is a fascinating topic and one that really helps to translate the writings […]

Are Legalists … Saved?

At its core, legalism is the belief or doctrines that there are standards, rituals, and performances one must do in order to be accepted by God i.e., Saved. As noted in my previous article, “Forcing the Bible to say what it does not say”, I noted the comments of a person who said, “Grace is only applied (Ephesians 2:8) to an individual after they have performed the ritual seen in Acts 2:38.”

Did Jesus tell you to be Right, or to be like Him?

Is your Christian Walk all about being right, and proving it to other people? Is your mission to connect with people and develop friendships that could turn to witnessing about Christ, or is your purpose to bash enough people with Jesus until one submits and then, and only then, they can be your friend? Finding your Thanksgiving Joy

We come upon the Thanksgiving holiday one more time, commemorating the coming together of family, and friends, in fellowship, joy and unity. Some unfortunately will be divided among religious, political and lifestyle lines, making the gatherings akward and hard, while some will enjoy the celebration of life, love, and thankfulness […]

What Happened to abiding in Christ? – The Legalists Reformation

There are many plain messages in Scripture that reflect the attitude we are to have towards God, but one that is a foreign to an ex or current legalist, above all, is Abiding in Christ. The Apostle John told us “But the annointing which ye have received of him abideth […]

Out of Context: I Corinthians 11:14 Women can’t cut their hair? What?

In our series of Out of Context topics, we will talk about the misappropriation of Scriptures used to either garner control or gain material wealth from congregations. Scripture teaches clearly that the Word was not to be used in this fashion, and yet with humanity involved, it seems almost inevitable, […]

Video Version: Recognizing Cult Talk/Patterns

This is the video production of Recognizing Cult Talk/Patterns Part 1. Recognizing the patterns of behavior, speech, and message of these organizations will save us from being taken in and help extract our loved ones from them. You can read the original articles, part 1 and part 2 as well […]

What is a Ministers Example?

As a follow-up to yesterdays post, Should Shepherds have Sheep Servants, I thought I would share a Scripture that makes the position of a minister crystal clear, and yet so obviously not followed. And this might be my shortest post, ever! What is most astonishing is that the word ministerĀ itself […]
