Book Review: Facial Hair, A Christian Perspective

Clearly, the theme is to superimpose the man-made commandments and principles of the Oneness Pentecostal Church/Holiness movement over Scripture, blatantly admitting this isn’t something God dealt with personally. Knowing that Scripture is the more sure word of prophecy, I tend to believe if God meant for this to be an issue, He would have been wise enough to deal with it.

Contending for the Faith – A Necessary Fight

We are currently living in a day when not only are false prophets and fake teachers found in Bible-believing circles but moreso there are blasphemous teachers who masquerade the Gospel in their private jets and crystal palaces with claims of prosperity, health and wealth, slick sermons with make-up camera-ready faces preaching another gospel than what the Apostles one and for all delivered to the saints.

Pentecostal Fire? You better hope not!

In the ESV Bible, the word ‘Fire’ is found 465 times, in 424 verses. I couldn’t begin to list them.. suffice it to say, anyone asking for that fire to fall down clearly has no idea what ‘fire’ represented, and if you are ‘on fire’ for God, you are sitting in judgment and wrath and eternal torment in the Lake of Fire that is never quenched.

The Purpose of Prayer – Part 2

We even had songs we sang often that said, I’m claiming my Promise God has promised to me…I’m standing my ground, His word I believe. The devil can’t stop it, blessings on the way, I’m claiming my promise today.’ And we would sing that chorus over and over again until everyone was getting a raise, a Mercedes and whatever else they could conjure up in their heads to pray for.

The Purpose of Prayer – Part 1

Too often prayer is me complaining. Sometimes, prayer is me wishing for something else. Sometimes, prayer is me wishing God would change so and so. Sometimes it is me wishing God would change me. Sometimes it is me wishing God would do something for someone else. Sometimes…

New Apostolic Reformation – A Warning

The NAR – New Apostolic Reformation was a term first used by its main apologist C. Peter Wagner to speak of what he believed to be the restoration of, or more accurately, the Second Age of the Apostles. We see in Scripture an ending of the Apostolic line – starting […]

Hyper Emotionalism in the Church

The truth is – we are emotional creatures – God made us that way. We respond to life with emotion. It is emotions that help steer us. Fear, angler, Joy, and Love. We know certain music can stir our emotions. It’s known that when women watch a good Romance, you better have a box of tissues nearby – they become overcome with emotion.

Being Led by the Spirit

For those of us in this walk of Faith, being led by the Spirit of Christ is important. It’s a central point of our spiritual/Christian journey. In fact, it’s a central theme of the New Testament and the highlight of the Gospel message. In His humanity, Christ prayed, “Not my […]

Slain in the Spirit – Fact or Fiction?

A great charismatic marketeer Benny Hinn swings his signature white jacket at a person or a crowd of people and in waves, they crumble under the ‘power’ of the spirit. At least, that is the claim.

These events are usually then marked with subsequent and equally un-biblical traits such as convulsions, twitching, trances or being rendered unconscious.

Cessationism – The Signs and Wonders (Apostles and Prophets) have Ceased

Yes. I am a Cessationist. What is Cessationism? At the core, Cessationism is a Christian doctrine that certain spiritual gifts, as attributed to the twelve Apostles, such as miraculous signs and wonders, has ceased. These gifts were things like the Tongues we see in Acts 2, spontaneous healings and prophetic […]
